Poll : numbers of players

Several months ago, I started a poll. The question was :

What is the ideal number of players for a Bf1942 server ?

45 players voted, thanks to them :

The server currently accepts 24 players. 24 is in the second position in the poll (23 to 28).

But 29% voted for more than 56 players.

I think I will soon increase the number of players to 36 or 42.

Maybe more players will join.

Juno Beach #1

After several months of pause, I have this week continued to build the map I call JUNO BEACH.

The harbor is 99%  finished (picture below).

The map is currently 10% finished…

When it will be almost complete, I’ll need some mates to test it.

I’ll do a call at that moment.

Making-up

So, what are my conclusions of the private evening ?

1. Mostly of players who were registered came. That is good.
2. Some players registered at the last moment : 20:00 / 8 pm or later, for an event at 21:00 / 9 pm. A bit stressful…
3. I sent the maps to these players, but some of them did not get them (why, idk). Read point 7 and 8.
4. Some players joined during the game because they had friends on-line, and I said « ok, your friend can join ».
5. I think the next time I won’t accept point 4 above. I had announced this event enough time before we started it here and on the server.
6. I will forbid clan war or even the idea. Next time, claners will join both sides. The server is not for clan war, but for fun.
7. The way I sent the maps (e-mail) was not practical : I spent a lot of time to send the maps. Read point 8.
8. The next time, I will upload the maps in a share web site (like RapidShare). Thx for the idea Fritzbox.
9. The next time, I will add more custom maps in the server (El Wadi, Stalag, Downhill to the beach, Juno beach [under construction, read point 17]).
10. I will improve the map Run or Die (remove the ammo boxes, increase respawn time, fix some bugs) because it was too hard and nade camping ruins the game. Maybe less cars too.
11. Add 2 tanks in Lost Island (idea Minerva) : idk because I wanted a pure infantry map.
12. Add ammo boxes (and medic chest) in Lost Island (idk who said this in game) : I find it better without, Dancing Mamba too. I fear grenade camping with an ammo box.
13. Bazzoka fights are still so funny.
14. Mostly of players were cool.
15. But PJ_2PacFan (sorry man if you read this, but I won’t hush-up my feelings, whatever it coasts to our relationship), I think you should sometimes be more humble, don’t so often say noob or come on or not cool or noob map (even with a smile after), but accept the way people are playing. You did not register as you could read the annoucements a few days ago when you joined the server, you came when Shockwave asked to me, and you were like in your own house (can’t find a better english word to say my feelings). You are an excellent skilled player, but I think you need to grow a bit. Some other players I met during the years I play BF1942 think like me. Asking to be admin the 1st day you come back to the game after several months away is an other example showing you need to be more diplomatic.
16. Nevertheless, I had a nice evening.
17. I will try to continue the map I was building some months ago, called Juno beach (a big overload + Bocage map), to add it to the server. I will see if I have time (I have work for several months I think because I have so things to do…). Picture below.

So we did it.

We were 11 players, or 10, I can’t remember.

Here a picture in Berlin, morenews (video maybe, and some modifications to do) will come later.

Private night …

… saturday 10th march, about at 21:00 (France).

Send me an e-mail at [e-mail] to obtain the password then participate.

Currently, 11 players told me they will be there. Invite your friends too if they play fair.

A cap with the BF1942 logo is to win for each player. If you want it, register with e-mail and give me your post mail too (I won’t diffuse it, I will keep it secret, don’t worry about this).

I will add 2 maps in the server and I will send them to each player who is registered, with instructions how to install them in the right folder.

The first map is called LOST ISLAND (CQT map, 4 flags, only infantry, no vehicles, no MG, a lot of bushes where to hide, etc.)

The second one is called RUN OR DIE. It’s  a capture the flag map, team work will be useful.

Klaus {L} knows them well because he helped me to test them, maybe 1 year ago.

All this work takes time and a bit money, so if you want to make a donation, you’re welcome.

Why only Germans cars have a license plate ?

Any idea ?

In the video below (what a music !!), mostly of plates begins with the W letter.

Does the W mean Wehrmacht ?

Then PJ means Play and Joy ?!! Cool !

Caps for a private night !!

Here they are : the caps with the Bf1942 logo I modified !!

2002-2012 : 10 years !

Battlefield 1942, our favourite game, was released in 2002.

It was 10 years ago ! Such a long time for a PC game !!

To honorate these 10 years, I have created / modified the logo of Bf42.

Maybe EA Games wants to buy it ?  ;-)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I will organize a private night in january (or february, depends if enough players are registered).

Rules of the server will be a bit modified (no balance team, no time limit, no friendly fire etc).

And there will be a prize to win for each player. Say it to your friends !!

Mauser 98K

What means the K letter  in the name of this famous riffle ?

The K letter is for kurz, a german words wich means short.

The Mauser 98 was first built in 1898 and had a long life in the german army.

Nowadays, it still works for hunting.

« K » on the rifle means « Karabiner », but kurz » is somehow also right, because a Karabiner is the short version of the infantry rifle. (: Minerva
